Top Secret Missions and Chocolate Chip Pancakes

Austin and I journeyed into DC on Saturday. We drove to the metro stop and rode the train into downtown DC. We took a nifty tour of the Capitol and I snapped a picture in front of one of Texas's statues in the Statuary Hall, the one and only Sam Houston. (Sorry the picture is blurry.)20150131_135421After walking from the Capitol to the Library of Congress in the underground tunnel, we made our way over to the International Spy Museum. We accepted a Top Secret Mission to save the world from Russian exposure to classified American technology. We were successful, so you're welcome world. Then we ventured inside to the museum and adopted secret identities. I even got to join the sisterhood of spies. I successfully completed my mission, but Austin forgot important factors from his identity and was detained, hahah. The moral of this story is if you need Top Secret Spy work done, you should probably choose me and not him. Oh, and I got scared to death by a shark projection.20150131_170131We had delicious pizza at District of Pi and stood outside the White House, hoping to catch a glimpse of Bo frolicking in the lawn or the Obama family. When we finally made it back to the apartment, we cuddled up with some House of Cards.Yesterday, we slept in and Austin took me to his church, where the pastor poured breadcrumbs all over the floor to make his point. It was quite interesting, but I was happy Austin took me with him and we could share that hour together. Austin took me to El Paso, which he claims is the best mexican food ever, but I was sorely disappointed, both by the fact that our waitress didn't speak enough english to bring me the food I ordered and that it was definitely not anything like mexican food from Texas. I vowed to expose Austin to much better food when he comes to see me in ATX.

This morning, Austin made chocolate chip pancakes and bacon and we danced around his kitchen. Note to self: teach Austin how to two step.  We are headed out to brave the chill wind and Austin is taking me to a big mall so we can window shop. It's still crazy that I am here, but I wouldn't trade this week for anything. I am so thankful for Austin and to be here in this beautiful place with him. The next two days will go by so quickly, and I know I will be sad to leave, but in my head I'm already planning my next trip.
