Reflections on 2015
So two years ago, I made a list of all the things I wanted to accomplish in the next 3 years. You can read it here. You can also read my reflections on that list from last year here! This post is to reflect on my list from the past year. I'm interested to see how far I've come.
- Spend less time in bed. -Doing well with this, and this year looks even brighter!
- Take more walks with my dogs. -Still working on this one. It's been an up and down year.
- Travel to Europe. -Must plan this trip soon.....
- Take a roadtrip. -Roadtrip with Austin to Amarillo was a success. Now I just need to get a trip to somewhere new in the books.
- Get more tattoos. -Yes, this is happening.
- Volunteer more. -Still need to work on this one...
- Spend more time laughing and less time stressing. -It has been a rough year for this, but I'm working on it.
- Have margaritas on the beach. -Hopefully this year, this will happen!
- Go to more concerts. -This has definitely been happening! Sam Smith, The Nutcracker, and The Dixie Chicks later this year!!
- Read more books; not for school, but for fun. -Yes!
- Spend more time figure-skating. -Didn't get on the ice last year, but I just finished my first session of classes today! I'm so happy and proud of myself for getting back on the ice!
- Try more new foods. -Trying to be healthier!
- Get out of debt….well, try, at least. -This is definitely going well! I don't feel like I'm drowning in debt!
- Be more spontaneous.
- Spend more time unplugged. -Eh, I'm disappointed that I haven't been doing so well with this.
- Find something to be thankful for every day. -Definitely been struggling with this one.
- Create more art. -Sucking at this one too.
- Prioritize and focus on school. -School was put on the back burner for me, and that's okay! But over this upcoming summer, school will be starting up for me again!
- Build my relationship into something meaningful every day. *See note below.
- Find three new things to be passionate about. -Rock Climbing has definitely struck my interest and I'm so excited to join Austin Bouldering Project. Shout out to Erika for introducing me to this amazing place and hobby!
- Pay it forward more often. -I have been doing so well with this and I'm so proud of myself.
- Send more mail. -Been sucking at this too. I did well when Austin was still living in VA and I sent him lots of presents and boxes and cute stuff. But with Astrea living on the coast, I should send her more stuff.
- Learn a new language. -Still gotta do this....
- Forgive more often. -Focused this past year on forgiving myself, and letting go, and moving forward. It's been hard, and I've still got things to work through this year.
- Apologize when I’m wrong, but never when I’m right. -I'm so proud of myself for reclaiming who I am and never backing down.
*Note: #19. When I first wrote this list back two years ago, I was in a rocky relationship, and I wanted to do everything I could to build it back up. Four months later, that relationship ended, and I was devastated. I had an agonizing summer/fall of poor dating choices and bad hookups. But as the dawn of 2015 broke, Austin stepped into my life. A dazzling friendship has blossomed into a marvelous relationship. I am so blessed to have Austin, and now this list item means so much more to me. Building my relationship every day with Austin is so important to me. So thank you, Austin, for being such a beautiful treasure in my life.
