Reflections on 2014
So you may recall my 25 Thing to do before 25 post here. With the new year on the horizon, I have decided to update and reflect upon my list and my year. I realize now that some of these things aren't really things I prefer to "check off," like oh, I did that once, I'm good. Hopefully these are changes in my life that can't be ticked off a list, but will remain ever present.
- Spend less time in bed. --Still trying really hard to not be so tired all the time.
- Take more walks with my dogs.
- Travel to Europe.
- Take a roadtrip. --This will happen this year, crossing my fingers
- Get more tattoos. --This should happen next month, also crossing my fingers
- Volunteer more.
- Spend more time laughing and less time stressing.
- Have margaritas on the beach.
- Go to more concerts.
- Read more books; not for school, but for fun. --This one is going so well! :)
- Spend more time figure-skating. --At least I brought my skates to my house?
- Try more new foods.
- Get out of debt….well, try, at least. --YO, I PAID OFF SOME DEBT I AM ACCOMPLISHING THINGS.
- Be more spontaneous.
- Spend more time unplugged.
- Find something to be thankful for every day.
- Create more art. --Luckily this doubles as lesson plans at work!
Prioritize and focus on school. --School has really taken a backburner for me now. I am happy where I'm at in life.- Build my relationships into something meaningful every day. --This includes avoiding crazy people at all costs.
- Find three new things to be passionate about. --I definitely got my politics on this year.
- Pay it forward more often. --Really need to work on this one.
- Send more mail. --And this one.
- Learn a new language.
- Forgive more often.
- Apologize when I’m wrong, but never when I’m right.
I am incredibly proud of myself for finding my voice. I realize that I have spent a lot of my time defending myself and fighting for things I believe in, in life, love, and all of the above. I made bold moves down a path towards my future, and I don't regret any of those decisions. So here's to a new year, turning 23, perpetually pursuing adulthood, and keeping a big fat happy-go-lucky grin on my face. Go me.
